2.  Be sure to visit The World Confederation for Physical Therapy new website:  http://www.wcpt.org/

3.  Great news! The Cochrane Library, as part of a pilot project, is now available throughout Canada to everyone with Internet access. As of April 15, and until the end of 2009, everyone is one click away from the wealth of information contained in the Library. Practitioners, researchers and patients alike will be able to make informed decisions what treatments work best. Thank you for signing our petition last year!

Visit www.thecochranelibrary.com and spread the word to your friends and colleagues about this great announcement. The more people who use the Library in the coming months, the better chance we have of obtaining a permanent license and making Canada-wide access a reality into 2010 and beyond!

March 2009

University MDT scholarship for Graduating PT Students University of Toronto.

Congratulations to Samantha Roeland for being awarded the 2009 McKenzie Scholarship for U of T.

The challenge was to discuss whether The McKenzie System should be more widely used as a method of diagnosis and treatment in Canada?”. Samantha's response included references to the reliability and efficacy of MDT as well as its focus on self treatment. She highlighted the importance of classification and the prognostic value of centralization as well as giving some key references from the literature.

She has won free tuition for the McKenzie courses Parts A thru to D.  We look forward  to seeing more of Samantha as she makes her way through the course series.
Read her winning entry here!
